Wisetek EHS Week: Fostering Safety and Sustainability Through Exciting Initiatives
Wisetek hosted the annual Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Week, from the 30th of August to the 1st of September. It was an engaging event that was dedicated to championing environmental, health, and safety awareness and encouraging employees to take part in environmental activities.
As part of the annual Corporate Sustainable Initiative, employees across all sites were invited to participate and join hands in creating a safer and more environmentally conscious future.
Kicking off EHS Week was the WOW Day (Walk on Wednesday) initiative. By embracing eco-friendly modes of transport such as walking, cycling, carpooling, and taking public transportation, employees collectively contributed to a reduction in carbon emissions.
We are committed to responsible consumption, and this came to life through the Clothes Swap and Donations initiative. Employees were encouraged to exchange or donate their pre-loved clothing, which was then given new life through donation to Down Syndrome charity. This meaningful act aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal number 12, emphasising “Responsible Consumption and Production.”
Embracing the spirit of environment, health, and safety, the EHS Week Scavenger Hunt was an exciting adventure for participants. Teams unlocked riddles and clues by scanning QR codes strategically placed around the premises. As the hunt unfolded, teams celebrated the importance of environmental stewardship and safety awareness, with prizes for the triumphant winners.
EHS Week also featured an array of engaging games designed to entertain and educate. Each game, including Crazy Golf, Basketball, and Cornhole, used 100% recycled materials. By repurposing items that might have otherwise ended up in landfills, Wisetek underscored its commitment to preserving natural resources, mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, and preventing pollution.
Sean Sheehan, CEO of Wisetek, said: “We were excited to usher in Wisetek’s 2023 EHS Week, following on from last year’s success. It is an occasion that embodies our values of safety, sustainability, and community engagement. Through the interactive activities, we aimed to inspire lasting change and foster a collective dedication to responsible practices.”
Chris O’Neill, International Quality and Compliance Manager with Wisetek, said: “It was encouraging to see so many Wisetek employees, from across the business take part in this year’s EHS week. These kinds of initiatives are very important, as it provides an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the company’s core values but which do so in a way that employees can enjoy. Thank you to everyone who took part, we look forward to planning and preparing for next year’s event.”
